I was recently working on a product review of PenScore Foam for Craft Critique. You can visit that post by clicking here. There, you can read how I used the PenScore to create my own stamp images, and overall what I thought of it.
Here I wanted to share the result of one project that was inspired by my play time with the PenScore Foam, my collage entitled "Reverie".
Above is a picture of the finished product. Right, is the starting background. Using the Penscore Foam, I made my own stamp by heating it up and pressing it (hard!) against a plastic fern that was placed on top of a paper doily. I inked the resulting stamp with Tsukineko's Kaleidacolor rainbow dye ink pad called "Bouquet". I trimmed it down so there was no border around the colored image. This background was the inspiration for everything else that followed.
For some reason, and I'm honestly not sure where the idea came from, I decided to create an overlay with some acetate, instead of stamping directly over the background. Thank goodness that Tsukineko has expanded the color pallette for StazOn inks! We are no longer limited to only black for stamping on non-porous surfaces like acetate.
I stamped a fern image using a combination of Olive Green and Cactus, by simply using both colors on the rubber image at the same time. The moon face (from Invoke Arts) was stamped in Stone Gray. I added the word "reverie" later using Jet Black. (That's one of those little stamps with no company name on it- I picked it up at a craft festival, and can't remember the store!)
I used Teal StazOn to stamp a delicate, flowery border along the top of the background image. This image is also from Invoke Arts. Again, I'm honestly not sure why I chose to stamp this image on the background, and not on the acetate. It seemed like the right thing to do!
Rather than using glue, I decided to mount the acetate using decorative brads from my stash. (Not sure where these came from, either! Sheeeesh!!) Even with those, I decided that I also wanted to add some 3-D embellishment across the top. Over the years, I've purchased a variety of beaded fringes, and found one that I thought was perfect. (Can you guess?? Don't remember where this came from either! I tend to buy stuff when I see it, without necessarily knowing how I am going to use it at the time. Consequenetly, you should SEE my craft room- stuffed to the gills with all kinds of goodies just waiting for the right inspiration! I don't necessarily recommend this as an approach to your crafting- it ends up being expensive and you need lots of storage space! But it's a realy luxury to be able to find just the right thing when you want it.)
I mounted the image using the new InColors from Stampin' Up!. As a Demonstrator, I got a chance to purchase early and to start to use them before they are officially released on August 11. I used both Pacific Point (a rich blue) and Kiwi Kiss (a yellow green) in addition to Whisper White to mount the image. First, it's directly mounted on the blue, then white, then green. I thought these hues perfectly complimented the colors in the background image.
The image, with its mats, was mounted on a piece of black-on-black foam core, and then this was mounted onto a piece of black-on-black matt board. I am really happy with how this turned out- particularly since it came out of nowhere. I started working on a product review and ended up with a beautiful collage! Don't you love the creative spirit?!?
Keep creating!

Thanks Kat! I'm glad you enjoyed both the Craft Critique tutorial, and the finished collage! Let me know if you have any questions about using the Penscore foam.
