Nothing Beats Champagne

That is, nothing beats champagne for celebrating!  Two flutes of bubbly are quite the iconic symbol of celebrating two people joining their lives together.  Thus, this third card designed for a friend who wanted to congratulate her niece on her recent engagement.

The card base is white card stock, cut 4-1/4" X 11".  The front of the card was punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch, and "Congratulations!" was stamped on the bottom of the inside of the card with Encore Champagne ink, and embossed with Pineapple embossing powder from Sparkle & Sprinkle.  (It's a semi-transparent embossing powder with a hint of glitter in it.) 

The striped paper is from the (now retired) Bridesmaid set from Stampin' Up.  A piece of Very Vanilla 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon was wrapped around it before it was attached to the card front.  The stamped image is from Magenta, stamped and embossed in the same manner as the sentiment, below.  And I hand-colored the hearts because who could resist?!?

I trimmed the image and punched the corners with the Ticket Corner Punch, and mounted it on a piece of Very Vanilla that had its corners similarly punched, and edged with my Krylon Gold Leaf Pen.  Both the Vanilla and the main image were mounted with Stampin' Dimensionals.

A Card in Celebration

Below is the second card that I made upon the request of a friend.  She wanted something to give her niece to celebrate her recent engagement.  This was inpired by a card I saw on SplitCoastStampers.

Silver cardstock was embossed with my Big Shot and the Finial Press Textured Impressions folder.  It was trimmed to 4" X 5-1/4", and the corners were chomped with the "Deco" Crop-A-Dile Corner Chomper.  A piece of 5/8" White Organza ribbon was wrapped around the lower third, and the silver was attached to a white card base whose corners had also been "chomped". 

The image, from "To Have and to Hold" (now retired), was stamped on a tag made with the SIzzlits "Lots of Tags" set, and the champagne was filled in with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.  I edged the tag with a Krylon Silver Leaf Pen, and attached it with Stampin Dimensionals.

This card would be great for any celebratory occasion, don't you think?

Congratulations are in order

Someone recently asked me to make a card that she could give to her niece who was recently engaged.  What a fun assigment!  Happy, joyful, full of life!

I made a few for her to choose from which I'll show over the next couple of days.  The first one could be used for such an occasion, but could easily be used for many other situations:  a simple expression of "Love".

Very simple: White cardstock was  cut to 4-1/4" X 11" for the card base, and the corners rounded with the corner rounder punch.  Nine circles were punch from gold cardstock with the 1-1/4" circle punch, and nine white circles using a 1" circle punch.   Patterned origami paper was glued onto white cardstock, and nine small hearts were punched out.  (The origami paper punches more cleanly if it is stiffened with the cardstock prior to punching.) 

It was then a simple matter to attach all of the circles, mount the hearts using Stampin' Dimensionals, and finish it off by stamping "love" (from the retired Wonderful Words set) in Real Red at the bottom.

Simple, but elegant, don't you think?

Happy Summer! Happy July!

Somehow red, white and blue always comes to mind when designing something for the month of July. . . No real mystery there:  Independence Day is a fun and festive, not to mention important, holiday.  So of course it infuses our thoughts in this first full month of Summer.

And so it is no surprise that the month of July in my Year of Collage calendar is inspired by the Fourth.

This is really a simple design, with a variety of woven ribbons providing the color, and cardstock providing the white.  The color scheme is obvious.  What may be less obvious is the loose connection to the flag, with blue and white on the top left, and red and white in the lower portion.  And, I had fun taking it one step further:  instead of using plain white cardstock,  I scanned and printed book pages with various languages on them:  German, French, Chinese, English, and (because I had it) shorthand!!  (Not exacly a language, but it looks cool on a page!!)  Thus the melting pot that is America is loosely represented in the various languages that are included in the design.  I added a few finishing touches in the form of red, white and blue buttons from my stash, and called it complete!
